Biography Sumiyoshi Hirosada (1793-1863) was a Japanese painter born in Edo (present Tokyo). Son of Sumiyoshi Hiroyuki (the Fifth of the Sumiyoshi school). Originally named as Hirosada, later changed to Hirotura, and commonly known as Naiki. The Seventh of Sumiyoshi school. Served as an official painter for the shoguns in Edo. Excelled at bird-and-flower painting. His artworks include Kishu "Toshogu engi emaki"(illustrated scrolls of the legends of Toshogu Shrine).
