Artist Takeuchi Seiho
Title Genial Spring Weather- Rabbit
Biography Takeuchi Seiho (1864-1942) was a Japanese painter born in Kyoto. Graduated the Kyoto Prefectural School of Painting. Started learning the painting under Tsuchida Eirin and became a pupil of Kono Bairei in 1891. Established his own private painting school “Chikujokai.” His pupils include Uemura Shoen, Nishiyama Suisho and Hashimoto Kansetsu. Known for a pioneer of the modern Japanese painting and also a leading figure in the Kyoto art circles. Member of Teishitsu Gigeiin (Imperial art expert) and awarded the Order of Culture.
