    Biography Fujiwara Okikaze(early Heian period) was a Japanese waka poet and nobleman. One of the Thirty-six Poetry Immortals and excelled at Japanese court music. His personal collection of poetry includes “Okikaze shu.”

    Kaburagi Kiyokata

    Biography Kaburagi Kiyokata (1878-1972) ws a Japanese-style painter born in Tokyo. Studied under Mizuno Toshikata, an ukiyoe artist of the Utagawa school and illustrator and then became a well-known illustrator for news paper and magagine. Organized a group of painter friend, Ugokai ("the Rapple") to aim at improving the art of Ukiyo-e and Kinreisha. Excelled at graceful young women and the lively life of the common people. Familiar with literature and also known as a writer. Wrote autobiography and essay "Koshikata-no-ki" etc. Teishitsu Gigeiin(Imperial art expert), Recipient of the Person of Cultural Merit Award and the Order of Culture.

    Biography Jakushitsu Kenko (1753-1830) was a monk of the Sotoshu sect, born in Buzen Province. Entered the Buddhist priesthood under Daiken Zenkai of Bungo Shooku-ji Temple. Accompanied Togai Shinryo of Nagato Kozan-ji Temple on his visit; became a pupil of Kaigai Ryoten of Shouzan-ji Temple and succeeded the tradition. Chief priest of Musashi Gotoku-ji Temple and Omi Seiryo-ji Temple. Founder of Omi Tennei-ji Temple. Written works include “Juzenkai-hogo”.
