Biography Yamashita Maki (1890-1973) was a Japanese painter born in Hyogo Prefecture. Gradated from Kyoto-shiritsu Kaiga Senmon Gakko (Kyoto City Specialist School of Painting). Studied painting under Takeuchi Seihou. Active in the Bunten exhibition and Teiten (Japan Art Academy Exhibition). Executed the mural paintings of the five-storied pagoda in Shitenno-ji (the Temple of Four Kings of Heaven), Osaka. Received the Asahi Prize. Excelled in Buddhist painting.
