Biography Jakushitsu Kenko (1753-1830) was a monk of the Sodoshu sect, born in Buzen Province. Entered the Buddhist priesthood under Daiken Zenkai of Bungo Shooku-ji Temple. Accompanied Togai Shinryo of Nagato Kozan-ji Temple on his visit; became a pupil of Kaigai Ryoten of Shouzan-ji Temple and succeeded the tradition. Chief priest of Musashi Gotoku-ji Temple and Omi Seiryo-ji Temple. Founder of Omi Tennei-ji Temple. Written works include “Juzenkai-hogo”.
