Biography

Kikuchi Yosai(1788-1878) was a Japanese painter born in Edo, present Tokyo. Studied Kano school style under Takada Enjo. Later, studied various painting techniques of western style, Chinese style and Japanese style including Tosa school. Excelled at historical painting.

Matsumoto Fuko(1840-1923) was a Japanese painter born in Hitachi(present Ibaragi Prefecture). Studied painting under Oki Ichiga, Satake Eikai and Kikuchi Yosai. Excelled at historical painting.
