Biography

Rai Sanyo (1780-1832) was a Confucian scholar, born in Aki Province. Studied under Bido Jishu and Kan Sazan. Left Hiroshima Domain; established and lived in the Residence of Sanshisuimei-sho in Kyoto. Written works include "Nihon Gaishi" (Unofficial History of Japan). His three sons were also well-known Confucian scholars.

Ko Unkaku (year of birth and death unknown) was a literary man born in Zhejiang Province, China. After 1815, came to Japan through Nagasaki. Interactions with Rai Sanyo, Yanagawa Seigan, Tanomura Chikuden, Ema Saiko, and etc.
