Biography

Mizukoshi Shonan(1888-1985) is a Japanese painter born in Hyogo Prefecture. The third son of Mizukoshi Konan. Studied painting under Taniguchi Kokyo in Kyoto. Also studied under Yamamoto Shunkyo and Takeuchi Seiho. Influenced by Tomioka Tessai and Post-Impressionists. A member of Nihon Nanga-in. His major works include Appearing in Disguise.

Mizukoshi Konan(1849-unknown) is a Japanese poet of Chinese-style poetry. Born in Hyogo Prefecture. Learned Chinese studies in Tokyo. Associated with literati from China in Kobe and Osaka. Served as a judge at Kobe District Court.
